Champions DB (“the app”, “the site”) is an unofficial fan tool for Pokémon Champions. This page describes how data is handled when you use the website champions.redrobo.nl or the related Android app that loads the same site in a WebView.
What we collect
- Usage of the service: When you browse the catalog or use Rotom chat, your browser or app sends requests to our server (pages, API calls). Standard web logs on the host may include IP address, user agent, and requested URLs.
- Rotom chat messages: Text you send in the Rotom sidebar is transmitted to our backend to answer your question. In Bot mode, replies are generated from our database without an external AI. In Agent mode, your message may also be processed by a local Ollama model on our infrastructure to produce a reply.
-
Local preferences: Theme, regulation, and UI settings may be stored in your
browser’s
localStorageon your device. We do not operate user accounts or a central profile store for visitors.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not require sign-in for basic catalog or chat use.
- We do not access your device contacts, photos, or location through the website.
Third-party data
Game text and stats are compiled from public community sources (e.g. PokéBase-style catalogs, PokéAPI, Showdown move descriptions). We do not represent that data as an official Nintendo or Pokémon Company product.
Images and artwork
We do not host or sell official Nintendo / Pokémon Company game artwork as our own product. Champions DB is a reference tool; any Pokémon images you see are displayed for identification and fan reference only.
-
Typical setup: Most creature images (including “official artwork” style
sprites) are not stored as proprietary files on our servers. Your browser
or app loads them directly from third-party URLs, commonly the public
PokeAPI sprites repository on
raw.githubusercontent.com. -
Optional mirrors: For performance we may cache small, low-resolution
battle sprites under
/assets/pokemon/on our server. Those files are derived from the same community sprite datasets, not from us claiming rights to official art. - Ownership: Pokémon, character names, and related artwork are trademarks and/or copyrights of Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc., The Pokémon Company, and other rights holders. We claim no ownership over them.
If an image fails to load, the app may show a placeholder; that does not imply we host the missing file locally.
Copyright complaints
If you are a rights holder and believe content displayed through Champions DB infringes your copyright, send a notice with enough detail for us to locate the material (URL, species or page name, and whether the image is loaded from our domain or a third-party host).
We will review valid notices promptly and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to infringing material on infrastructure we control, or stop linking to third-party URLs we operate in our configuration. For material served only from external hosts (e.g. GitHub), we may also document the source so you can contact that host directly.
Contact us through the same channel listed under Contact below, with the subject line Copyright / DMCA. Include your relationship to the work, a description of the copyrighted work, and a good-faith statement that use is not authorized.
Retention
Chat messages are processed to generate a response; we do not design the app to build a long-term chat history tied to your identity on the server. Server logs, if enabled on the host, are kept only as long as needed for operation and security.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the service means you accept the revised policy.
